MUST DO WHEN VISITING CAPETOWN SOUTH AFRICA

THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST EXPERIENCES I had when visiting South Africa. It is so incredibly important to support the communities in Cape Flats who are still afflicted by economic apartheid ongoing in South Africa, especially in Cape Town. If you are visiting it is ESPECIALLY important that you go to the townships and use your money to support businesses like this one , that are run by local people on the Cape Flats townships, telling their own histories and their own stories in an incredibly powerful way that supports their culture, growth, and larger community. Our guide Ayande was incredible and we got to see a lot of Khayelitsha while stopping by beautiful local businesses and social entrepreneurship hotspots to support and learn from this stunning community. THIS IS A MUST DO TOUR IF YOU ARE VISITING SOUTH AFRICA.

Unforgettable Experience

We had a really informative, respectful, and sensitive experience on the walking tour in Khayelitsha with the team. They are different, attentive, and professional throughout the process. The team cares about presenting the community where they live with a lot of respect for the history and the people who live there. The tour was a unique opportunity to see the reality of Khayelitsha up close, guided by people who truly understand and respect the place. The attention to detail and care at every step of the tour made all the difference. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for an authentic and enriching perspective.

Why You Should Go On a Food Tour to Langa

Langa is a community inviting you to learn, taste, and engage with its deep-rooted culture. From the entrepreneurial spirit of places like Eziko and Waya Rostile to the unmissable flavours of grilled meats and homebrewed ginger beer, every stop along the way offered a glimpse into a resilient, creative, and welcoming township. Many people come to Lanaga on walking tours, but Phumelele said that they come to see the charity buildings, take some photographs and then leave. They don’t engage or immerse themselves with the local community. A food tour in Langa is more than just a tourist tick box—it’s a chance to connect with the people behind the food, support local businesses, and witness the innovative ways Langa’s residents are shaping their own narrative. And also, the food is just brilliant! If you find yourself in Cape Town, make sure to set aside half a day to explore Langa; you’ll leave with a full stomach, a warm heart, and memories you’ll savour long after you’ve left.
